KASHIRA Metal cap at the bottom of the handle.

MENUKI Metal ornaments on both sides of the handle

TSUKAMAKI A ribbon wrapped around the handle.

OYATSUBU A circular fixture for fixing the handle and stem is inserted through the eye nail hole. It can be made of copper, iron, bamboo, wood and other materials.

I guess I didn't read the description correctly, because I was pleasantly surprised this came with a stand. My cousin collects Japanese swords so this was a perfect gift for him. The sword was stunning, the box was beautiful and the stand was great. He really enjoyed this gift.

This katana is the real deal - full tang, perfect heft, good balance and a keen edge. You can see and feel the care that went into its making, with fine detail on the hilt and expert wrappings on the scabbard and handle. It is beautiful both to hold and behold. It comes with both a box (worthy of display on its own) and a lacquer display stand. As befits a real katana, it also comes with a cloth bag for storage and protection when you’re not using it.One star off for some of the little details. The box is definitely meant for repeated use, but is lined with thin fabric and the styrofoam inner base is clearly visible (and audible), undermining the premium nature of this blade. The laquerwork was also unfortunately beset by small flaws, made all the more apparent against the uniform black gloss of the saya. Minor details both, but at this price, you expect something that can be proudly displayed and that will last.
