About Kochou Shinobu

Kochou Shinobu is an impressive character known as the Insect Hashira in the hit anime and manga series Demon Slayer. She was born into a family of pharmacists and mastered the knowledge of medicine and poison since childhood. Tragedy befell her family when demons took the lives of her loved ones, leaving her with deep hatred toward all evil creatures. After her elder sister Kochou Kanae passed away, Shinobu changed greatly. She always wears a gentle smile on her face, yet her words and fighting style reveal sharpness and determination. She runs the Butterfly Mansion and devotes herself to protecting vulnerable people and defeating demons with all her strength.

Appearance & Features of Shinobu's Nichirin Sword

As a core member of the Demon Slayer Corps, Shinobu wields a unique Nichirin Sword, the standard weapon crafted exclusively for demon slayers. These special blades can only be forged by skilled craftsmen living in the Swordsmith Village, which makes them extremely precious. Different from ordinary katanas, Shinobu’s sword features an extremely slender and delicate blade.

Its tsuba is designed in the shape of a flying butterfly, matching her title perfectly. The handle adopts fresh mint green tone with elegant copper decorations. Only the top and bottom edges of the blade are sharpened, and special hooks are built on the back side for storing poison. Two Japanese characters meaning "Destroy Demons" are carved clearly on both sides of the blade. She usually hides this lightweight sword on her chest, coordinating it with her agile body movements in battles.
