Muichiro's Katana

Tokitou Muichiro is a remarkable character from the hit Japanese anime Demon Slayer. As the Mist Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, he is recognizable by his distinctive long hair that gradients from black to pale green, along with his perpetually emotionless facial expression. He masters the Mist Breathing combat style, a derivative of Wind Breathing, and stands out as the youngest Hashira in the entire organization. Amazingly, he climbed from a novice swordsman to a Hashira in just two months of training. Sadly, this talented teenage warrior passed away at the young age of 14 during the final battle against demons.

What does Muichiro's katana look like?

Muichiro wields a standard Nichirin Sword with many exclusive custom details. Its tsuba (hand guard) is designed as a golden square shape, with hollowed square cutouts at every corner for a delicate and stylish look. The blade is carved with mint-green Japanese characters "悪鬼滅殺", which means "Annihilate Demons". Overall, the blade presents a crystal-clear white tone similar to snow, looking plain at first glance. However, when Muichiro unleashes his Mist Breathing techniques, the sword reflects dazzling glimmers and blends into surging mist, creating a breathtaking visual effect.

As a powerful swordsman, Muichiro can further boost his physical strength and sensory perception by unlocking the Demon Slayer's Marks and the Transparent World. During intense battles, he can raise the temperature of his Nichirin Sword through firm grips and fierce weapon clashes, turning an ordinary blade into a powerful Red Nichirin Sword, also known as Hekken, to gain an upper hand against strong demons.

Why is Muichiro's sword white?

The unique white color of Muichiro's Nichirin Sword is not random. On the one hand, Muichiro once suffered from amnesia. He was absent-minded most of the time, easily forgetting trivial things and struggling to concentrate. His simple and pure temperament perfectly matches the attribute of the white Nichirin Sword. On the other hand, white is the symbolic color of mist, which corresponds closely to his exclusive Mist Breathing style. It is therefore highly fitting for the Mist Hashira to carry this ethereal white katana.
